Not a REAL Super Bowl this year (no AFL team) so Miss and I are rollin' with the Saints.

After the Jets lost we decided to scratch our annual Super Bowl Bash (since it's NOT a REAL Super Bowl) and watch the game in New Awlins so we made reservations at the Royal Sonesta as soon as it looked like the Saints had the NFC Championship in hand.

The folks already had plans so we invited the kids who agreed to come if we could stop off in Lake Charles for a little gambling.

We also invited 4 guys from the houses who are New Orleans natives. 3 came to us after Katrina and now work for us. The other was just released to us a few weeks ago after doing 35 for murder. Stupid gang shit. The guy, Harold, is 54 and  has spent his whole adult life in a cage. I took him suit shopping this week and told them they're allowed to have a few drinks this weekend as long as they don't tell my boss.

The kids got in last night and we left this morning stopped off at L’Auberge where the boy was the only winner (he'll be paying for brunch tomorrow)! Checked in then had dinner at my favorite restaurant, Antoine's! I had the Pompano Pontchartrain with Pommes de terre soufflées. Harold hasn't been out to a restaurant since I was in 3rd grade so it was great fun watching him look over the menu. Of course we made him order the Escargots a la Bordelaise as his appetizer. I'd be perfectly happy to just sit here and burp up crabmeat and Baked Alaska for the rest of the night but our rooms overlook Bienville Street where the pre-game party is already in high gear so I'm afraid we're going out... damnit.

I have to keep an eye on my guys and make sure the don't get in any trouble.

Tomorrow after Mass at the Cathedral we'll be heading to Chef Tory's Jazz Brunch at Commander's then back to our room for the annual screening of Super Bowl III and this years pre-game. We'll head down to Desire for the game itself.

Don't tell Big Pa but I'm glad the Jets lost...
